Ajman’s total revenue from the tourism and hospitality sector amounted to Dhs458 million in 2017, a 11.7 per cent growth compared to the Dhs411 million registered in 2016.

The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) successfully concluded their participation in ITB Berlin, the world’s largest travel and tourism trade show, which was held in Berlin from March 7 to 11.

Throughout the event, the ATDD participated in a series of meetings with leading industry figures as part of its strategic objectives to highlight and promote the Emirate of Ajman as a unique tourist and investment destination.

Ali Abdulla Al Ahmed, the UAE ambassador of Germany, visited the Ajman stand where he was welcomed by Saleh Al Geziry, Director General of the ATDD.

Saleh Al Geziry, Director General of the ATDD, said: “ITB Berlin is a major event in the ATDD’s annual calendar as, not only does it provide significant exposure to an important global market, it presents a valuable opportunity to network and attract new investment to the Emirate. In this regard, we are thrilled to report that we have agreed on a number of new partnerships that will enhance Ajman’s growth over the coming years.”

Attended by top international travel agencies, official tourism authorities, hoteliers and investors, ITB Berlin enabled the ATDD to build strategic partnerships with major travel and tourism agencies.

Saleh Al Geziry added: “Exhibitions such as ITB Berlin continue to present strong opportunities for us to promote Ajman amongst industry partners from Germany and around the world. Germany represents a key target market for Ajman and we were pleased to welcome more than 9,586 German visitors to Ajman last year.
